About the Labs

The EDSAFE AI Alliance Policy Lab network is a national community of practice that unites U.S. school districts and states to navigate the complex landscape of AI in K-12 education. Supported by a multi-year grant from Google.org, these labs collaborate using an open science approach to build a practical "policy stack."

 

Guided by the Alliance's SAFE Framework (Safety, Accountability, Fairness & Transparency, and Efficacy), the network creates shared resources—including acceptable use policies, parent communication and consent guidelines, professional development materials, and ethical frameworks—to ensure responsible and equitable AI deployment nationwide.

Meet the 2026-2027 Cohort

We are excited to launch our newest cohort of Policy Labs. Made possible through the support of Google.org, this initiative expands our national footprint to 36 school districts and 15 states, impacting over 75,000 educators and millions of K-12 students.
